Love My Aventine spa...
PostedDecember 10, 2025
I love my little Aventine spa, installed in mid-Nov, 2025! It's just right for 1-2 ppl, tho it's only me who uses it. Jets, while few and caused me to pause buying it at first, are SO powerful, they'll blast you into outer space! You can turn them down a notch, but the # of jets should concern no one. Aventine is a plug-n-play, bit I got a 220 installed, so there would be no issues with using jets and heater at the same time. I also opted for the salt system which is much better for your skin and requires much less frequent cleaning than straight chlorine or bromide. My spa is on my open-sided, but covered (roofed) back porch, so not as exposed to the weather. I gave it 4 stars vs. 5 because of a cpl of details I think would improve the spa. My suggestions are few: namely, place the controls nearer the head of the spa where ppl can reach them while IN the spa to adjust jets + lights w/o getting up. And turn the control panel buttons for "Jets" and "Lights" inward vs. outward. While you can "invert" the panel LCD screen reading the temp to face inward, the buttons reading "Jets & Lights" are stationary and still face outward. It makes sense for the Mode buttons and even the LCD screen to face outward for checking temp, cleaning, etc. because for that, you are not usually IN the spa. But not for the Jets and Lights buttons....those should face inward for adjustment while IN the spa. Unless I have my glasses on, I cannot clearly read "Jets" or "Lights" very well upside down while in the spa. Also, while I have the "textured" "Sand" shell, the place where your footing typically lands when using the steps to get in, is the sloped "captain's chair" side, so still slippery and uneven. I never felt totally secure stepping in. I guess, if you don't have or use steps, you could 1st sit on the spa edge and swing yourself in and place your feet in the flat part of the tub where your feet go, but I am short and need the steps. However, I solved that problem when I bought a very nice, very substantial swivel handle on Amazon for $53 that makes me feel very secure stepping in or out. It cannot ideally tuck under the spa once filled, but the heavy steps hold it in place very well. I highly recommend it if you are older and need a little extra help getting in and out! Also, the spa should include a 2nd pillow for the other seat like the pillow on the main, sloped-seat side. I found this a bit chintzy, especially since there is a built-in slope in the shell for the pillow, but no knobs to fasten even an after-market pillow to. I actually prefer the non-"captain's-chair" side that doesn't slope as much, but no pillow there. I am looking for an after-market pillow that will fit there, but have had no luck so far. I also have ordered booster seats for both sides, so that I am not so much up to my chin when seated. The 2 "cup" indents, while suffice, are very slight and the one for the captain's seat is too far away to reach w/o sitting up, so I am looking for a very small cup/tray to attach. So far, most are too big. And one last thing, the hand jets are way too strong while having the back jets on High. They should be adjustable, like the main ones, so that you can have the back jets on High and the hand/wrist jets Low or Off. And there should be a 3rd hand jet for the L hand on the straight-up side. (I can use the L hand jet on the captain's seat (sloped) side for my R hand when sitting on the other side (which I prefer), but there is no jet for the L hand on that side). Very picky stuff, but a few observations made after having it for less than 1 month. Otherwise, it's a great spa!! And I love it and have no regrets!

Design Issues for Consideration before Purchasing
PostedSeptember 13, 2025
We find that our Aventine Tub, while advertised as a Two person Tub is really functional for only one person to have an good experience. Calera was very short sighted in not including jets on the short side of the tub for legs and the hand massage, as well as a head support. Additionally, the control panel is facing to the outside of the Unit and thus it is difficult to read whilst in the tub, clearly a design flaw that cannot be corrected.
We find that it does offer a good experience whilst seating on the long side of the tub.
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaOctober 10, 2025
Thank you for sharing your concerns about the spa experience. We truly understand how important it is to make hot tubbing enjoyable for everyone.

The Aventine spa is one of our cherished compact options, designed with your comfort in mind. It features a captain's chair equipped with additional jets specifically for your wrists and calves, along with a standard seat that includes back jets and a shared foot jet. We want to provide bathers with the choice to enjoy the soothing jets or simply relax in the calming hot water.

You bring up an excellent point regarding the controller. We appreciate your feedback! The screen can actually rotate to face you while you’re in the spa. To adjust it, please follow the steps outlined on page 12 of the owner's manual. We hope you find this helpful!

LCD DISPLAY INVERSION
You may invert the control panel display for easier viewing from inside
the spa. To invert the display the following is required: Press the
MODE (down) and (-)buttons simultaneously. By pressing the MODE (down)
and (-)buttons simultaneously a second time the screen will go back to
it’s original display.

I hope that helps. If you need anything else, please contact our service team at 800-999-4688.

Vapor lock with EVERY water change!
PostedJuly 25, 2025
We purchased this model in January 2025 because it had the exact foot print we were looking for. It's been 7 months, so we have had several water changes since then. It vapor locks EVERY.SINGLE.TIME! And yes, we have followed the directions in the manual and as demonstrated by our dealer. But other than this MAJOR inconvenience, we do enjoy the tub.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I completely understand how frustrating the airlock release can be during the refill process. While it's a step that’s often necessary, I realize it can feel cumbersome at times.

For added convenience, you might consider reaching out to your dealer to inquire about a valet service. They can help drain, clean, and refill your spa, making the process much easier for you.

We truly appreciate your input, as we want your experience owning a hot tub to be enjoyable and relaxing. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team at 800-999-4688. They’re here to help.

Airlock is no fun
PostedMay 29, 2025
We really like the size and comfort of our Aventine hot tub but as said by another recent reviewer, changing out the water is very difficult due to the airlock. We are in our mid 70's and it is definitely a problem getting the panel off and having to bleed out the air. Is there a valve that can be installed or something to change the problem of airlocking??

Thank you for your feedback I am glad you are enjoying your spa.
I understand the frustration of bleeding the airline at fill up.
It helps to fill the spa through the main filter standpipe however it will not always eliminate the need to clear the airlock.
I suggest working with the dealer as they may be able to assist you when you change out the water and replace the side panels.
In most cases water is changed out every 3 to 4 months unless the spa water is treated with Freshwater salt and water is changed out annulally.

Thank you for your feedback, and it will be shared with our team.
Happy Hot Tubbing!Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm truly happy to hear that you're enjoying your spa.

I completely understand how frustrating it can be to deal with bleeding the airline during the fill-up. It can be a bit tricky. Filling the spa through the main filter standpipe can help, but I know it doesn't always resolve the airlock issue.

I highly encourage you to reach out to your dealer—they're there to help and can provide support when you’re changing out the water and replacing the side panels. In most cases, it's recommended to change the water every 3 to 4 months, unless you're using Freshwater salt, in which case an annual change is sufficient.

Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your input, and I will make sure it reaches our team.

Wishing you many more relaxing moments in your hot tub! calderaspas_brand

Wished we had waited!
PostedJune 11, 2024
Was so excited about this hot tub, until it came time to change the water out. It airlocks every time. Being under warranty, the techs came out & took the panel off & released the airlock. I have followed every "trick" I was told to do to prevent this, & still have the same problem. Now as I'm approaching the end of warranty, & after multiple trips back to the shop to resolve this problem, I still haven't gotten answers to what the problem is. My husband & I are too old to have to take the panel off, get on our knees, use a wrench to get to where we can release the air, then put it back together every time the water has to be changed. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! For something that was supposed to be enjoyed has now become a several thousand dollar regret. Yes, we have the option to have the shop send someone to release the airlock, but at $175 per trip...no thank you.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your spa's operation. Your feedback and concerns are important to us, and I truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's worth noting that the spa model you have requires priming the pump after refilling, as indicated on page 9 of the 2024 owner's manual.

I understand that this may not make it any easier for you. However, sharing this information can benefit the wider hot tub community by setting clear expectations. If you find it challenging, perhaps a younger family member or neighbor could assist with this step, which is only necessary two to three times a year.

Thank you once again for your time and for providing your review. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know. Our Customer Service team can be reached at 800-999-4688.

Loving our new Hot Tub
PostedOctober 18, 2023
We specifically were looking for a small spa. Not because we couldn't afford a bigger one, but we didn't want a bigger one. There are only two of us so, I don't need a 4 or 6 or even an 8-person tub.
The installation was a breeze, it fits on the deck nicely, and its plenty big enough for the two of us.
If I have any complaint, and it would be a nit... I'd like the tub a bit deeper so I don't displace the water out of the tub when there are two of us in it. We aren't large people! I guess this is the downside to a small tub.
So far, the tub is easy to clean with the drop-in Frog cartridges and filter. We got the Ozone generator too and so, far, I'm happy with that as well.

Great for 1 person
PostedOctober 1, 2023
This was a terrific find at my local dealer! I bought it as a gift to myself, installed in a private corner of my yard and feel like I'm in heaven every time I use it!
The total cost to me in northern California was around $10,000, including base installation and electrical.
The ease of care is wonderful, especially if you are clean when you use the spa. The more oils on your body, the more often you need to clean the filter. I've had the spa for 8 months now.
The biggest downside is that there is not a lift bar for the cover. Even though it is smaller than most covers, it is still awkward if you have physical or height challenges, and you have to create a space or stand to set the cover during use.
When I was considering which small tub to purchase, the selling point for me was the alternate tub lining. Instead of the slick white tub, I chose the slightly textured Desert lining.
Having a step to enter and exit is important for safety - don't skip this!

We Love Our Hot Tub
PostedSeptember 8, 2021
Thank goodness it is not a time machine!
We are in our 60's. We have had 2 previous hot tubs - big ones. We decided to down-size everything a few years ago. Moved into a 1100 sq. ft. condo near the beach in St. Augustine, FL. The condo came with a approx. 15 x 30 open patio. The Aventine is perfect! Fits right into a corner with full sky views. We love to lounge and look at the stars and passing aircraft. Only downside (and it really is not) when we both are in it the water level adjusts itself. But no worries, the patio drains right into the yard. We love it. Glad we found the dealer. They were very professional with the sales delivery and the installation.

Doesn’t keep the water at temperature.

Bought this and it doesn’t have enough jets to reach all parts of our body but I’d hate more because the water cools from 104 to just 98 degrees in less than 20 mins with the jets on...bummer for us!!

I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with your spa. As it turns out, your spa has an optional electrical set up. If you run the spa at 230 volts, you can run the jets and heater at the same time. The spa water will cool when the cover is open. It just depends on the outside temp and how long the spa is open as to how much it will drop.
Thank you for bringing up a good topic. The whole reason for having a hot tub is to have hot water. Taking in to account these other factors, I feel that your spa will work better for you.
