Frog system cartridge holder breaks again
PostedNovember 14, 2016
The Frog cartridge holder locks down and will not come out. The top is too fragile. It broke once before when I could not get it out. Even though I put a lubricant on it before inserting it, it still locks up and will not move. I broke it again trying to get it out today. Now I can't get it out to change the cartridges again. I also spent last 2 days having to scrub down the sides. The spa suddenly created a sand-like salt a couple of weeks ago. I did not have time to empty the water again for about 3 weeks. About a week ago the sand started binding to the plastic surfaces. When I finally had to make time this weekend to drain it and scrub it down it was a many hour job. This is the second time this has happened. This time I had not added any solid chemicals so I don't know where this sand-like salt is coming from. Our PG&E bill averages about $80 a month more than it did before. That is with a 220 hook up, which should be the most efficient. We did keep spa in high 90s. Several months ago we put it on the efficient time system in the Manual and lowered temp to mid 90s. That didn't seem to help. At our former home a good sized pool only seemed to add about $100 per month. We thought the spa would cost much less but it doesn't.
I enjoy the comforts of the spa but the scrubbing caused by the scaling to the sides and the irritating and difficult problem of the frog cartridge holder betting locked in so tight that it breaks to try and remove it is ruining our spa experience. Spa was delivered in Dec of 2014

BAD DECISION
PostedOctober 7, 2016
My less than 5 year-old Marino just had to have the top-side control and the electronic circuit board replaced at the same time. Failure of both components at the same time less than 5 years after purchase.
This one repair alone has added 20% to the total cost of owning this hot tub. At this rate of failure the tub will cost 50% more than the purchase price after 12 years of ownership.
My last tub (another brand) lasted 17 years and did not eat me out of house and home.
I cannot understand how both the top-side control and the control board should fail in tandem on a newer tub.
Buyer beware.

Hello, thank you for your candid feedback on your recent repair work on your Vacanza series Caldera spa. We appreciate your expressed concerns, and it is unfortunate service work was needed on your spa. The local dealership determines their retail costs for components, service, and products for the spas they sell and service. Your spa was 3+ years outside the manufacture warranty, and it is understood the local dealer did complete the repairs so you can continue to enjoy the spa. We do value your feedback, and thank you for taking the time to write on our website.” calderaspas_brand

GREAT HOT TUB
PostedAugust 15, 2016
I use my Caldera Marino hot tub every morning. I could not be happier with it. It looks way more expensive than what it is (comments from others), is very energy efficient, and easy to care for. We had looked for used ones for a couple of years and for not that much more money, we were able to get a new one. My morning hot tub time is the best time of my day.

Our Marino SPA
PostedAugust 9, 2016
My wife and I love our spa and use it almost every evening. Always about an hour before going to bed. No need for melatonin anymore and we get some of the best sleep that we've experienced in years.
This spa replaced our previous spa and with the frogger system keeping the chemicals balanced is a snap. We also love the lighting and the waterfall. Also with the hinged cover my wife can cover and uncover it alone. So many improvements over the last one. It's definitely money well spent.

First time spa owner
PostedJuly 16, 2016
I had wanted a spa for years. I took the plunge in 2016 and invested in a Caldera Spa, model Moreno. It has been almost 4 weeks since my spa was delivered and I am HAPPY to say I have no buyers remorse! I use my spa at least once a day as away to relax and take time for myself, after a long work day. In fact I use my spa so much that the joke in the neighborhood is I'm going to shrivel up (LOL).

Enjoyable Energy Hog
PostedJuly 7, 2016
I have a Caldera Marino, and it's reasonably enjoyable. The seating options are good, the jets are strong, controls are nice, and the lights are good. It's a great way to relax and spend to time together.
However, there are some things that I wish were better:
Energy efficiency is a BIG concern. My first winter with the spa, my electric bill increased by 50% for each month that the spa was in use. Before this, I was exactly on par or below my neighbors' usage. (My electric utility provides this info). After installing the SPA, my usage went up by 50% each month, which equates to ~$100/month during the winter. There is NO INSULATION on the front 25% of the spa where the heater, pumps, and control board is located. When the front access panel is removed, you can literally touch the backside of the fiberglass spa shell and feel the heat coming through from the heated water. Also, the SPA FROG system was promised to make bromine dosing EASY. However, even with a fresh bromine cartridges set on max setting, the bromine always reads '0'. This is for multiple bromine cartridges and test kits. The way that I resolve this issue is to use a floating bromine system, in addition to the inline "SPA FROG" system.
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaJuly 11, 2016
I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your spa and finding relaxing.

While your Marino spa does have some of the best insulation available for a portable spa, the equipment compartment does need to be accessible.

However, I can understand your concern, especially during the cold winter months. Therefor, you can use an insulation blanket, it is designed to help keep the equipment compartment warm. It is available at most hardware stores or local spa dealer. Please remember to remove the blanket when the temperature warms up.

While floating devices are not recommend I can see why you would try it. I will email you directly for further water care assistance.

Thank you for taking the time to share your spa experience. calderaspas_brand

The spa and the dealer are top notch. The frog chemical system makes it easy to care for and the Bluetooth brings it all together. Make sure you follow the initial setup instructions and you will be fine. I usually check the levels daily but weekly is probably fine.
