We purchased and had a Tahitian 2015 installed in May 2015. We have been using the tub nightly and really enjoyed it until tonight. While using the hot tub, it began to leak and now I have 1 inch or more of water on my screen porch floor. Clearly it is leaking and I have no idea where, but wherever it is, it is a bit early in the life of the spa for a leak. We are very disappointed with this and will need to get the company that services the spa out to fix this. I will also be calling Caldera tomorrow morning to address this issue as well. Very disappointing, but hopefully they will make good on the product. We purchased it because of the reputation of Caldera, so we have expectations of the company to stand by their product.

Where the Tahitian looks beautiful, is extremely comfortable, and has great massaging capabilities. It is however, less than expected. I have found the water care to be a little on the stressful side.
On another note, Even when the cover is on the spa, I seem to be loosing more water then I am adding. (No its not a leak).

It is very difficult to access the chemical containers, and we have not yet been able to get the water clear after nearly two months. We are disappointed, as we has excellent results and ease of use of our first Caldera spa that we bought eight years ago.

Can't get main panel off...

We were very excited upon delivery of our spa. They told us that the owners manual is behind the control panel. We have taken screws out and still can't get the panel off. Unable to use until we can get to the manual. I tried calling the dealer and they are out of town for a ski expo until Monday. We are endlessly looking online for help...

We bought this very expensive hot tub with the promise of ease of water care. After following all the instructions and a hands on tutorial from our dealer, it has failed to ever generate chlorine. I spend my time fretting about balancing my water. After only 3 months, the status indicator is blinking and the control panel indicates that I need a $100 cartridge that will probably generate no chlorine.
Now to the quality of the product. We get in the hot tub only to have the jet covers fall off and see the weir floating in the water. On the outside We have a loose panel, a trim piece that fell off, and flimsy screws for the hold down straps. I cannot secure the cover in the back.
We waited 3 months to get our hot tub, and it is literally a $12,000, 375 gallon disappointment. I am sorry for all the time I spent upgrading my electric panel, installing a disconnect, and having it inspected. A hot tub is supposed to be relaxing. This one just gives me stress.

Tahitian spa is difficult to enter - there are no flat surfaces near the steps to put your foot down on - definitely need to be holding onto something when entering. (Too many ups and downs on the sitting surfaces.)
The cover over the filters is easily broken and you must warn off all visitors from sitting nearby. For that matter, there is really no place for a person to sit up, outside the water just sticking their legs or feet into the water.
Draining the spa is not a neat process - water leaks out from the spigot-hose connection and the men at the local storeroom said there was not much you could do about it.

Thank you for your review.
I am sorry that your Hot Tub experience has not been a pleasant one. Enjoying your spa in different seating configurations other than designed is something that I can appreciate. However, not every spot on the spa is intended to be a seat.
There are helpful accessories that will address some of your concerns, such as the Spa Side Handrail.
I would like to work with you directly, please look for an email from me in your inbox. I look forward in working with you soon.

Several cracks have appeared on side panels. Tub was winterized and unused during severe 2015 northeast winter.Warranty claim in progress.
Otherwise a nice hot tub if it actually lasts...
Response from Caldera SpasBy Peggy W. Customer ServiceMay 15, 2015
Good morning - thanks for reviewing your Tahitian model spa ownership. Yes, you folks had a very rough winter. Some outer skirting panels (cosmetic issue) took a beating and will be replaced by your authorized dealer. We are confident that the spa will perform as designed/intended for many years to come given a good basic water care routine and maintenance.

I purchased a Caldera Spa from Recreation Unlimited and after three weeks the heater has died. I reported the problem on Saturday and received a call back on Tuesday for a possible repair service on Thursday. The inconvenience with the downtime, service and product quality leave a lot be desired. Oh, not to mention the extreme amount of work required to maintain the tub. Based on my experience thus far…1 star.

Hey there,

I'm sorry to hear that you needed service on your new spa. We're glad that your dealer and warranty were there to support you. I hear you, it can be an in connivance to have your spa down. We're big believers in the benefits of hot tubbing.

As it turns out, the average service time frame is two weeks. While we are always working with our dealers for faster turnaround, some services may take longer. It sounds like they got you back up and running pretty quickly.

We're here to help if you need anything and we appreciate your feedback on your experience. If you have further questions or concerns please call 800-999-4688 ext 8432 or email our customer care team at CustomerService@Watkinsmfg.com. Thank you again for your time and post.

Happy Hot Tubbing!

Our hot tub was delivered in September 2020. COVID teaching had been so rough and we needed a way to de stress. Ha! This thing has been nothing but stress in between a few times it actually worked correctly. Now the whole screen panel won’t even light up- we have no jets and no hot water in our “hot tub”. We have a $13000 piece of junk on our patio taking up space, an extra bill to pay for the pleasure of housing the thing. We had to pay to update the electric, the cartridges last only about 2 months (not the promised 4) and cost $100 each. Not to mention all the water we have wasted because it turns green when it doesn’t work and we have to refill it. If you’re thinking about getting one, don’t.
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaApril 22, 2022
Oh no! You are correct; a spa should be relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your spa experience.
It is essential that all of our customers can confidently use their spas without fail.
I will reach out to you and your dealer to ensure you have what you need for your spa to operate appropriately.

I look forward to working with you soon.

We've had numerous problems with this spa. First, the wiring diagram on the inside panel was for European electrical circuits. This caused confusion, delays and additional expense to get the tub started up. Next, the motherboard had to be replaced. Then, the pumps started pulsing and then eventually stopped. We investigated with our supplier/installer. They contacted Caldera and eventually the pumps and heater were replaced. Again, this caused needless delays, extra time and expense to get the spa operational. We've had this spa for less than 2 months. What will go wrong next?
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaMay 31, 2019
Thank you for your post. This is definitely an odd situation. I have not heard of something like this before.
I see that our team has made a case about this and have notes about your service. I don't believe that something else will pop up. It looks like everything has been addressed and you'll be able to enjoy your spa from here on out.

My original complaint with the Tahitian was the water volume being so low, in comparison to other spas, that it is very difficult to keep clean and sanitized. Having had a much larger spa before with larger filters, sanitization was never a problem. I decided to try to sell the spa and get another but the outer panels cracked. Caldera was aware and promised to replace the panels. Well that was December 2014 and it is now July 2015 and no new panels. Not much chance of selling a spa with broken panels. I cannot recommend this spa or Caldera customer service to anyone.
Response from Caldera SpasBy Peggy W.Customer ServiceJuly 24, 2015
Thank you for this feedback. I spoke to your dealer this morning. They advise they called your husband 1-2 weeks ago to schedule the work. He asked that they hold off for now as he had just refilled the spa; he will be calling the dealer when he is ready to have them on site. Do call the dealer when you're ready to schedule. Best regards!
