We’ve had Geneva for about 7 months. It is aesthetically pleasing and easy to care for but the siding pulled away from the sides after 5 months. This was fixed manually with a few screws by our rep so no complaints other than the inconvenience. We are now experiencing issues with our LCD panel. It seems to be freezing up and not responding unless we reset the circuit breaker which is happening every few days. Again, our rep is coming out to repair it, but again it is an inconvenience and a bit disappointing for a brand new purchase (for the price we paid). I hope we don’t continue to have more issues. The tub is beautiful and we love the comfort and pretty lights. It’s very easy to clean and maintain ourselves. We are happy with our rep and his communication with us!

Terrible wireless music system. My spa from day one had issues. Now the speakers got wet (go figure in a hot tub) and the system stopped working. 2 years!!??? I would not recommend a music system from Caldera ever!
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaJuly 12, 2017
Oh no! That is not ok. Obviously the spa speakers will get wet. However, they should not stop working becasue of that. I will email you to see what we can do to help.

We are not as impressed with this spa as we thought we would be.
It is lacking in quality for the amount of money it cost .

This is the 2nd Geneva I owned, I like the first one better. It seemed quieter & the water was easier to take care of. The jet power seemed better on the one we had 5 years ago. The electric bill seems more like $100 a month, not $20 a month.
The step seems better.

Fittings and knobs often disconnect from post. Still having difficulty determining cause of water discoloration dispite numourous discussions and multiple normal water analysis by several sources. Provider and installer has not been able to find a remedy. My wife believes it is an intrinsic issue with the materials used in tubs manufacture.
I am disappointed. I expected better for the price. Sorry I cannot recommend this to my friends.

We purchased our spa back in 2008. We love all the jets and how easy it is to clean the spa. However, after about 2 years, we noticed a slow leak in the spa. We have to refill it about once/twice a week to maintain the water level. We have a service call in and they are coming out next week to take a look. For the price we paid, it is a huge bummer that the shell leaks. Other than that - great spa.

Highly disappointed so far. Hot tub arrived scratched and the front panel doesn't snap on flush. The 3rd party seller is working with Caldera to determine the next course of action, but Caldera is requiring them to "repair" the scratches before deciding on a warranty option for the tub. Additionally, this is a salt water tub and was advertised as "easy" to maintain similar to my salt water pool. This is not the case. My pool requires very little effort to keep balanced. I've had the hot tub for 3 weeks now and I've had to add chemicals almost every day we have used the hot tub. The manual even states you have to add chlorine every hour during high peak usage times. Not sure why I have to add chlorine when the salt cell is supposed to handle this.
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaJune 6, 2023
Hello Hot Tubber,

I'm sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience. Please tell me more about the issues you are facing and how I can help you. Please check your email, as I will be sending you a message shortly.

The Freshwater Salt system allows users to adjust the chlorine output to match their usage. In case of high usage, you can set your spa to boost mode, which will operate for 24 hours. This allows you to enjoy the spa without having to add chlorine daily.

I'm eager to work with you and help clear up any concerns you may have regarding your water care operation.

We have had to have breakers replaced 4 times within a few months of purchase. Could not use the hot tub for a month or more since the breakers kept tripping. We had the electrical set up done by an electrician who does a lot of spa work and paid to have him come back to see if the issue was our electric system and there were no issues on our end. Finally the last fix seemed to work but very disappointed in a high end spa.
Also, plastic rings around jets (not sure proper term) keep popping off.
Quite disappointed in the quality of the tub for what we paid for it.

Our family has been planning for a spa for several years. With COVID-19 keeping us housebound, it seemed like a great time to splurge and get one. We choose a brand new, top of the line Geneva 7 seater and were so excited to get it. Once the tub was hooked up, filled and water suitably treated it wouldn’t get past 97F due to the 20 amp breaker consistently tripping or the tub going into protection mode. Although the spa is amazing, we’ve had nothing but problems.
It was determined that the spa had a defective heater right from the factory. We’ve been waiting for about three weeks for it to be changed out. I hope this is a sign of things to come. So far we are very disappointed.

We like the layout and functionality of the SPA, however ...I purchased my SPA in December, 2019 and it has now been leaking for 3 months! My pool contractor has been valiantly working to fix it, but has not been successful. It has been torn apart and put back together so many times that it is no longer a new! Unfortunately, I had to draw the line, if this latest attempt fails to resolve the issue, he will need to either provide a full refund or replace the SPA. Very disappointed!

We have owned a handful of hot tubs over the years and so far the Geneva has been our biggest splurge and also our biggest disappointment! Jet head popping off, water filter easily "gunking" up, jets in awkward positions, and a pressure distribution setup that we still haven't mastered. This spa is too "bells and whistles" for its own good, a prime example of too many things going on for everything to work properly. We definitely should have gone one of the much less expensive (probably back to the $5,000 range) to get the best value for a comfortable working spa.

We bought a Geneva and have enjoyed the functionality of the spa. We have had constant issues with the outer vinyl panels around the spa. The outer panels have cracked 5 times and multiple times on the same panels, in some cases. They have been to our home every 3 months for 2 years now and
the cracking won't stop. They just replaced 100% of panels last week so we will see how long they last, again. Lots of headaches getting them replaced. In hindsight, would have gone another direction
By Customer Service Caldera VanessaJuly 1, 2016
Thank you for your patience while we work to make this right. I am sorry for the spa issues. I am sure replacing all of the panels will be the best way to go. Thank you again for your time and review. calderaspas_brand

Waiting on a pump! I live in Northern Pennsylvania and the pump goes bad. Everyday for the past 3-4 weeks I've had to go out and fill the hot tub and keep a tarp of it to try to hold temperature and keep it from freezing. The hot tub needs to be completely drained to replace the pump. 7 degrees outside and I just spent an hour filling and working on the hot tub. No shut off valve to the pump so once again it needs to be drained to replace the pump. The service company called last week and wanted to come out Friday to do the work. That would have been great but it was only 25 degrees outside last Friday. I asked them to come out Monday as it is supposed to be 36 degrees. After the pump is replaced its going to take about six hours to fill the hot tub. Hopefully it won't freeze while I'm filling it. Once again very disappointed!

First of all, I really like my Geneva Spa. But, I am having issues with the controls. First, they kept flipping upside down on the screen, and the options would not be aligned with buttons. Almost reluctantly, my dealer came out and replaced a circuit board. Now, the ability to play music through the bluetooth interface is gone...no menu prompts at all. So here's the worst part, I have to PAY my dealer for a service call for them to come out and honor the warranty. So this is just the first year......can wait for the warranty to expire.

Okay, so thanks to my dealer, repairs have been done, and my situation is much improved. A very big thank you to them. Going forward, I can see the music system is going to be bit of a maintenance nightmare, but I'll just have to deal with that. It sounds great when it is right, but the water eats away the speakers, which means speakers have to be replaced. Half of mine lasted less than 1 year. That is a problem since we do use the spa. Other than that, it has been awesome this cold, cold winter.

I purchased my Caldera Geneva in 2006 right after I bought my house. The hot tub stopped heating in the beginning of the summer of 2013. I ignored it during the summer months due to the fact that it maintained a temp of 85-87 degrees. I called the business that I bought it from and they told me that it is only a 5 year warranty. I am extremely frustrated that I have to pay out of pocket when it is barely a year out of warranty. I thought it would have lasted quite a bit longer.
I would not advise anyone to purchase a caldera spa.
Response from Caldera SpasBy Peggy W. Customer ServiceOctober 16, 2013
Thank you for writing. I have confirmed that your spa has had 1 service call (2009) during your first 7yrs of use. It did have a 5yr component warranty that expired 2 yrs ago. The dealer tells me they're scheduled to service your spa next week. We appreciate your purchase and believe it will provide you many more years of uninterrupted use once the dealer has seen the spa next week.

We love our Geneva spa and have enjoyed almost daily in the cooler months. We have three issues that keep this review from being excellent. 1. Dealer not responsive to calls and indeed will not return calls. After first year of operation, spa would not start up after draining and cleaning procedure. Took multiple trips and part replacement before they got it functional again. 2. Arm on lift broke shortly after that call. Dealer would not return call. We finally ordered the replacement arm and replaced it ourselves. 3. Drained tub today for semi annual water exchange and found quarter size patch of pearl finish flaking off liner in bottom corner near filter side. Why is finish flaking off? How quickly must this be repaired? No crack noticed just cosmetic finish. Also can you recommend another dealer in our area who can help. We are following manufacturers instructions exactly for control of water quality using Frog system. We live in Marion, Ma 02738 and would love to find a spa service repair who could help us with this. Spa is 2 years old.

The spa is very comfortable, but unfortunately we have to use a lot of chemicals, to keep the water balanced. I don't think the in-line chemical system works very well. Other people have had better results with a clorine system, or bromine/clorine tabs. The head rests are hard to clean and are getting moldy.

Inline Frog System

Just a heads up to anyone else who has an inline Spa Frog/ Mineral System. In order for the Bromine and Mineral packages to work the spa needs to have a brom/ chlor residual already in the spa (that is not from the cartridge). Keep a bottle of concentrate for new systems.

I am reaching out with deep frustration regarding my Caldera Utopia Geneva. Following a recent drain and refill, the touchscreen is unresponsive upon booting up, and I've been consistently dealing with intermittent screen flashing issues. This is especially disheartening as the hot tub is not even a year old. I expected better durability from this product, and at this point, I feel my hard-earned money might have been wasted. Urgent assistance is needed to address and resolve these issues promptly.

Been on site 3 times, still not fixed. Diverter valve leaks when turn on jets. Now they want to cut into the piping and refit a valve they say is too short and thats what is causing the leak. So, you buy an expensive hot tub, expecting quality and you get poor workmanship. Company hasnt even made an attempt to compensate for the poor quality of the product or inconvenience. I have had tub 3 weeks and its been unusable 6 of those days. At this point, I would not recommend tub or Backyard Leisure. My opinion may change if this gets repaired and they make it right.

We bought this high end hot tub to ensure we had something in 2020 that didn’t present challenges or difficulty. In perfect 2020 fashion this hot tub was the worst purchase we’ve ever made. It has been nothing but a hassle and headache.
We had a variety of Caldera repair specialist come out to repair it and we are still plagued with the same issue we had the minute we powered it up for the first time in August. Parts have been replaced and are now being replaced again as they are also defective, the mother board has been replaced, the tub recoded, high limit switches have been replaced and the heater, you name it, it’s been done!
Today, on Christmas Eve, two more repair men were scheduled to come to give it its “final fix”, so I went out to the tub to check it out before their arrival the tub had drained completely since their service call yesterday and was exposed to our Canadian winter. Upon inspection the plug on the already replaced heater malfunctioned. Now the tub is winterized and unusable over the holidays.
On a different note, the chlorine system reacted with my skin so we upgraded to the salt water system (~$1000) upgrade and it too doesn’t work as it can’t create its own chlorine.
If your looking for a spa DO NOT purchase a Caldera. I sincerely hope this review saves others the frustration we have encountered.
